A.P.Fire Serivces and Civil Defence Training Institute,(Hitherto of State Training School, Hyderabad) was established on 17-05-1956 at Anantapur and there after shifted to Hyderabad City in the year 1958. The Training Institute functioned in rented buildings at Hyderabad from 1958 to 2006 .
From 26-03-2006, the Institute is functioning in 10 Aceres with own buildings in the name of A.P.Fire Services and Home Guards Training Institute. It was renamed as A.P.Fire Services, Home Guards and Civil Defence Training Institute during of the year 2010. Home Guards was deiinked in the year 2012 and at present it is A.P.Fire Services and Civil Defence Training Institute .
After the bifurcation of Andhra pradesh, temporary Training Institute was established vide G.O.M.S NO.110,Dt.27-06-2017 of Home (Prisons and Fire services ) Department at Fire Station premises,Sattenapalli, Guntur District. The Institute is imparting In-Servise Training Course to Firemen, Leading Firemen, Driver Operators and Station Fire Officers in their respective promotional courses , The institute also conducts Short - term courses on Basic Fire Prevention and First Aid Fire Fighting Training courses to the employees Security personal of Industries,Malls ,Multiplexes,Hospital etc and general public on payment of User Charges .
The activities of Civil Defence and Disaster Management were entrusted to this department by the Government of Andhra Pradesh on the recommentation of High Power Committee Headed by Sri.K.M. Singh Member ,NDMA on Revamping of Civil Defence. The Government sanctioned 30 new posts to the Institute as per G.o.Ms.No. 59, Dt. 19-03-2013 to conduct various Cicil Defence Programs . The Government designated the Director General, State Disaster Responce and Fire Services Department as Director, Civil Defence of the State of Andhra Pradesh for coordination, supervision and training of the Civil Defence Organisation as per G.O Ms.No.21 Dt. 15.02.2018 of Home (Prisons & Fire Services ) department.
After the bifurcation, the department is in pursuit of establishing a Modern Training Academy at Amaravathi for conducting advanced Training programs in all types of disasters. A proposed for allocation of 105.98 Acres in Amaravati for establishment of Modern training Academy is already submitted to CRDA,Amaravathi.
