Sri P.V. Ramana is a 1998 Batch Group -1 officer. In his illustrative career of 22 years, he
has held various positions in A.P. State Disaster Response & Fire Services Department. He
joined as Divisional Fire Officer and worked in Krishna, Visakhapatnam & Hyderabad districts.
On promotion as Regional Fire Officer in 2008, he has supervised Southern Region consisting
of 7 districts. Later in 2013, he was promoted as Additional Director and deputed to Fire
Prevention Wing, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation where he has spearheaded Fire
Prevention in GHMC in addition to the various assignments given by Commissioner, GHMC.
In 2016, he was repatriated to Department and held the position of Additional Director Fire
Services at Vijayawada. On his promotion, on Feb 1st 2020, he took charge as Director of A.P.
Fire Services and Civil Defence Training Institute.
Sri P.V. Ramana is a recipient of ‘Andhra Pradesh State Uttama Seva Pathakam (2020)’ and
‘Andhra Pradesh Seva Pathakam (2013)’ from Government of Andhra Pradesh.
He is the only officer from A.P. Fire Services Department to attend the interview conducted by
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the Select List of 2017 for selection of Non-State
Civil Service Officers to the IAS of Andhra Pradesh Cadre.
WORK EXPERIENCE
• He is a Group I officer of 1998 batch from Andhra Pradesh. He was appointed as Divisional
Fire officer in the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response & Fire Services by Direct
Recruitment under Group I services through Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission on
20.04.1998.
• In his illustrative career of 22 years, he has attended many Major Fire and Rescue Calls and
utilized the technical Knowledge and experience gained in the Department for the advantage
of the state. His immediate response and extremely efficient handling of the resources while
supervising stand by duties, conduct of fire fighting and rescue operations have resulted in
saving properties of worth Rs.2,200 crores and saving more than 885 human lives.

• He has Effective Resource Management skills and coordinated rescue and relief operations
in the low-lying areas of Kurnool town, boat- capsizing incidents in Krishna and Godavari
rivers saved more than 300 human Lives.

o Conducted Independence Day Parade-2008 and Republic Day Parade-2009 as a Fire
Department Contingent Commandant at Gymkhana parade ground, Hyderabad.
o In recognition of his Service rendered in the Department for Initiating of paperless
office, digitalization of records and Implementation of e-Office effectively the
government has selected and given training on Digital Transformation in Public
Governance by India School of Business, Hyderabad (ISB).
